MyDay: Japanese Movie : A boy and His Samurai (ちょんまげぷりん)
Watch this Ä Boy and His Samurai / Chonmage Purin few days ago and I found this a very good movie :) especially the way they create the sweets haha... Tho this is not a new movie but its worth to watch.
PLOT: A single-mother and her young son find a samurai who time-traveled from the Edo Period to modern-day Japan in a grocery store parking lot. Concerned for his safety, they bring him back to their modest apartment where he helps around the house as she works at her job. He puts a samurai level of dedication into his housework, quickly becoming skilled at making desserts.
From Ms to Mrs: Bridesmaids Dilemma
My first post about how to choose your bridesmaids. Sounds very easy but actually it is quite a hard question…For me, all my bestie live far away from me, so it will be quite difficult for us to discuss n decide on things (and luckily we have whatsapp app :) hehe
I have chosen 6 girls as my bridesmaids yet each of them seems like don’t know what are their roles and what supposed to do. As I understand, being one of your best friend BM doesn’t mean you only need to dress up beautifully and walk along the aisle with the bride. You need to help them from the preparations until the big day.
Frankly speaking, I am a super budget bride, yet I want the best for my wedding. I try to make My day perfect but of course I don’t want to be broke after my marriage. Yes the BM help me to choose my gowns…but doesn’t mean I will provide the same amount of money to buy the gowns for my BM. Some of my BMs are really understandable on my situation and yet tell me not to provide any gowns for them…to save my money so I can use them wisely, while some of them want me to provide them an elegant yet pricey gowns in order to make them look good and always tell me that this moment is only once for a lifetime so I should spend some on them.
Here I found a very good articles :)
Bride and bridesmaid roles
It's very important that brides and potential attendants discuss the expected expenses before the attendants accept their positions. (Grooms and their attendants either rarely have these problems or rarely complain about them.) I therefore present the following exciting, and totally new…Mutual Responsibilities of the Bride and Her Attendants.
The bride is responsible for:
- Informing the attendants, when she asks them, of the level of investment (both time and money) she expects of them. A bride who does not know where, when, or how formal her wedding will be is not ready to ask her attendants yet.
- Consulting with the attendants about the cost, style, and color of the outfits they will wear.
- Recognizing that a $59 dress worn by your best friend is far more beautiful than a $300 dress on a professional model.
- Being open to the idea of relatively classic, neutral styles and colors. A "neutral" is neutral because it coordinates well with many other colors.
- Resisting the urge to fixate on dyed-to-match shoes, and entirely refusing to get involved in choosing the bridesmaids' stockings or undergarments.
- Paying for professional hairstyling or make-up for the bridesmaids if she suddenly decides, months after asking the attendants, that these services are a necessity.
- Graciously accepting that a shower is a "nice to have" not a "need to have"-and that it's no reflection on the friendship if her attendants can afford only a small shower or no shower.
- Never springing a surprise expense on the bridesmaids.
- Recognizing that travel greatly increases an attendants' expenses- and helping with those expenses however possible. If the couple cannot follow the old custom of providing lodging for the attendants, then at the very least they should help by recommending affordable hotels and by keeping the other attendant expenses low.
The attendants are responsible for:
- Asking the bride about expectations and expenses-if she doesn't volunteer the information-before accepting or declining the position.
- Returning the bride's calls promptly when she asks about preferences for dress colors and styles. Bridesmaids who don't return messages have only themselves to blame if they end up wearing skin-tight lime green gowns.
- Leaving your worst personal insecurities home when invited on dress-hunting expeditions. If you always hate your rear every time you look in a mirror, rest assured that you'll hate it in the dresses you try- and live with it, okay? Similarly, the bridesmaid who is half your size was not chosen solely to make you feel huge (or vice-versa).
- Leaving your preferences for how you'd do your perfect wedding at home, too. As long as you look nice in the dress and don't feel that you're squandering your rent money, it doesn't matter if you'd put your own bridesmaids in it.
- Being honest, polite, and direct about dealing with areas of discomfort as soon as they arise. Ignoring phone calls or refusing to send measurements will not make an unwanted, over-priced dress go away. If you feel you must drop out of the wedding for any reason, tell the bride as soon as possible. The news will hurt less if you deliver it three months before the wedding instead of three days before.
- Consulting with other attendants on any project that will call for their time, effort, or money. You simply cannot assume that Bridesmaid #4 will pay a quarter of the shower costs if you didn't ask her.
- Recognizing that poverty is not shameful, and that saying "I'd love to do it, but I really can't afford it" is a polite and reasonable response to a request that you can't handle.
An interesting note on the traditional division of expenses-I discovered that in South Africa , the bride traditionally buys her attendants' wedding outfits. This wouldn't be a bad custom to adopt in the United States , as it would motivate brides to trim their tastes in bridesmaids' dresses to their own budgets rather than to what they wish their attendants could afford. (The same could be said of grooms, but tuxedo quality and prices don't vary as much. Men have it easy!)

MyDay: Popping BIG question on 1,666.7 ft height
It was our family trip to Taiwan and yet I have never imagined it will be our memorable romantic trip… Finally I find my knight ♥♥♥
Yes…it’s not an Eiffel Tower, yet…it was not in Europe
There’s no wine, no roses but we have our sweet bubble tea
Being proposed on one of the top of the world’s highest structure is super darn romantic ( tho we don’t have anyone who help us to capture that moment…hahaha). The twinkling lights of Taipei city become our witness and the most important is HIM. *blushing*
It was such a funny yet romantic moments…awkward, funny, happy, romantic…yeay…that’s my feeling at that time…hahhaha…here’s the scenario:
We shopped a lot in Jiu Fen, and my dad’s friend drove us to Taipei 101 after our BIG shopping. He told us he didn’t want to go up to 101 Taipei so ended up he waited for us inside the shopping mall. Feeling uneasy, Dz and me decided to get our shopping bags from his car so he can go home earlier without need to wait for us.
So we went up to Taipei 101 with lots of things on hand…(and who the hell will know that he will popped up that BiG question with lots of things on our hand, I was really like an Obasan at that time hahah--- so not a romantic scene lol). He kept busy taking pictures from the windows while I kept nagging ask him to go to one level below to meet our parents (afraid that they have waited for us too long). Suddenly he asked me to come beside him and asked me whether I love him or not and spontaneous I answered him “ yes I do love your MONEY” (this is how we joke with each other). He laughed and opened the box towards me…” Dear, will you….eeee…noooo…you MUST marry me…dear”
I laughed yet I felt super happy (and I didn’t cry ok :D). He is my cute boy…watching his nervous face was priceless… And one more thing he DIDN’T kneel down…so I was the one who asked him to kneel down…(DUHHH!!!)
Well, he quietly knelt down and told me to marry him again(and it is a Must)…as I have no other option and it was like an obligation so i said, "yes , I do" lol … ahhaha…joking joking..Absolutely I’m happy and willingly to become Mrs.Ng ehhee.
Another awkward moment was when I waited him to wear the ring on me and at the same time he waited me to wear it by myself (duh!!!).
Anyway…I’m one of the lucky girl who have promise ring, engagement ring and waiting for my wedding ring :D and of course lucky to have him as my children’s dad :D
PS. I will try to blog all my wedding preparation :D *cross finger * hahhaha
Myday: Born this way ball with Gaga
Love her performance tho we need to wait half an hour for her appearance (well…she is Lady Gaga). Never imagine that she is a sweet girl which you really cannot imagine that is Lady Gaga who always love to wear weird outfits. Like oldie said “ never judge a book from its cover”. Basically she love to preach hahaha… and I amazed with her secret talent…she really know how to touch your heart indirectly by her speech… anyway I do respect her more now :D
Here’s a little message for our lovely Indonesia lil monsters…. (and I was in that show to witness it hahah..lucky us ) anyway… it’s only Gaga and why they didn’t allow her to perform in Indo…I think it is quite ridiculous…come on, be real…she is only human and how can she spread the Satan’s things if you really know how to control yourself…it’s all back to your own personality…so please don’t blame other people while you yourself has a bad root to be a bad man. “Blaming someone is like having an itch on your head and scratching your bottom” – Ajahn Brahm
And here we goes…a lucky bday girl on Gaga’s concert :D

GetAways: One day tour to Johor Bahru, Malaysia on 24.03.12
Take note:
- Singapore ( Sin) to Johor Bahru (JB) distance 12.42km (is about 20-30mins ~ depends on Sin and Malaysia’s customs crowd)
- Can go there by:
- MRT + Bus: Alight at Kranji MRT + Bus No170
- Taxi
- Car
Our itinerary :
Start the journey at around 11.30 am from Singapore(Sin) to Johor Bahru (JB) by car. The crowd is reasonable so we reached JB around 12.15pm.
- 12.30 : Makan at kopitiam ~ I forgot the name and didn’t take any picture nor any information of the kopitiam hahahah…
- 14.00: KSL City shopping mall (33 Jalan Seladang, Taman Abad 80250) – Take bus number S1 from Immigration Checkpoint (RM1.50). S1 also go to other malls such as Holiday Plaza and Danga City Mall (haven’t been both of them). NZ Newz Salon
Went there to dye my hair and I hate the color, I asked for black ashy color, turned out golden blonde >.< and it cost me RM220++. Ended up I need to dye myself again using “Liese New Bubble Hair Dye” (another SGD18). I don’t think I will go back to that saloon anymore tho I have some discount coupons.
BlackBall Original Taiwan Tea & Dessert
They sell lots of Taiwanese Dessert, haven’t tried for their yam signature yet. But their bubble milk tea quite nice. Give a try if you happen to go there.
- 17.10: Massage timeee…. at Sawadee Thai Spa (193, Jln Dato Sulaiman, Tmn Century 80250)
They offer 3 types of massage:
Thai Massage : 1 hour (RM53) ; 1,5 hours (RM73); 2 hours (RM99) Oil Massage: 1 hour (RM65) ; 1,5 hours (RM97); 2 hours (RM130) Foot Massage:30 mins (RM25) ; 1 hour (RM42)The location just opposite KSL City shopping mall, so quite convenient :). I tried Thai Massage for 1 hour and the rest took the oil massage for 1 hour. And we love it :D
- 20.10: Dinner time at Malam Indah Selalu ( KG Senibong – Tepi laut)
They sell good nasi lemak and seafood. Love their nasi lemak, the cute thing is that you can order nasi kosong (plain rice) which you will only get nasi lemak + sambal (Chilli) without chicken or other vege such as long bean.
They also have small night market along the street, just in front of the restaurant
- 10.20 “The Hunger Games” Movie time at MCat Box Office, KSL City. It cost RM11.00. Personally, I don’t like the theater, quite packed, smaller, not very comfort seat. But yet for this price, what do you expect :D.
Let’s call it a day… :D

Travelling Souvenir: Pia Legong, traditional Bali Pie
Claim to be one of famous souvenir from Bali, this delicious homemade balinese pie has no branch so meanings you only can get it in Bali. You can choose the fillings from homemade mung-bean chop, premium chocolate and melted cheese.
One of my friend teased us said that in order to get this traditional pie, he needed to pre-order it three weeks before. And guess what, all of us that easily believe him…what a good sales person he is…lol…
Because of a good campaign and marketing from one of our good friend, everyone want to have a try on it and of course so do I. We all curious about the taste and wondering how good it is until we need to pre-order.
After my first bite, two words to describe “nothing special”; high expectation lead to high disappointments. (Ok…this is purely my own opinion, so no offense :D). It only a very ordinary Chinese “pia” fills with western dessert’s fillings (read: chocolate and melted cheese).
For people who want to give a try on it, check below:

My Recipe: Salmon with Spicy Mango Salsa
- Salmon fillet
- Fresh mango (diced)
- chili padi (depends on how spicy you want it)
- Capsicum (diced)
- Onion (diced)
- half lemon juice
- Chinese parsley (finely chopped)
- 1 teaspoon Fish sauce
- Salt + pepper
- Olive oil
- In a big bowl, mix the diced mango + diced capsicum + diced chili padi + diced onion + finely chopped chinese parsley + fish sauce +sprinkle salt and pepper + squeeze fresh lemon on it…. mix mix mix and put it into fridge
- Place the salmon on a chopping board, score the skin crosswise about one half inch deep for the entire salmon ( to prevent the fillet from curling while cooking and also make it cooked nice and evenly – Gordon Ramsay’s tips)
- Open each score and sprinkle salt and pepper into the cut. I also add the lemon juice to the entire salmon.
- Heat the un-stick pan and add olive oil when the pan is hot. Cook the salmon, skin-side down for 2-3 minutes depending on thickness.
- Turn and cook for 3-4 minutes on the other side. Tilt the pan, and cook for another minute.
- Turn off the fire and cover the pan with the lids. I let it cook by itself which it give the salmon more tender and juicer
- Place the hot salmon on the plate, pour it with the juice from the pan. Place the spicy mango salsa on the top and garnish it with the remaining chinese parsley. Serve well with baked/ smashed potato.
- Enjoy this healthy yet yummy dish

Sharing: Leap year – propose him or not?!?
- According to Irish traditions, girl has a special privileges on this leap day (only happen once in every four years, so use it wisely lady :)). They can propose to their boyfriend (well nowadays there’s no diff whether who is going to propose first- but for myself, I still stick to old tradition). And the most interesting part is that if the man rejects the girl, they need to pay a PENALTY, such as:
- In European countries (Denmark) : the man has to buy the girl 12 pairs of gloves so that the girl can wear the gloves to hide the embarrassment of not having an engagement ring
- In Finland, the man has to buy the girl fabrics for a skirt
- In Greece, marriage in a leap year is considered unlucky so they always try to avoid to get married on that year

MyDay: Friday's Inspiration
2. Who is the most important person? The person you are with
3. What is the most important thing to do? To care
Recipe: Parmesan Chicken with Homemade Garlic Croutons
As you know…I’m a big fan of foodwishes.com and again I tried his Parmesan Chicken plus homemade garlic croutons… He love it and so do my colleagues who have tried it ( I brought the leftover for my office lunch hehe…)
You must give it a try… so easy..simple yet yummy…
1. Homemade garlic croutons ( prepare it one day before)
- 5 slices of plain bread or half loaf French baguette (cut them into pieces)
- olive oil ( to cover all the bread)
- 4 or 5 gloves minced fresh garlic
- salt and pepper
- pinch of paprika
- dried oregano herbs
- finely grated parmesan cheese
- Mixed the olive oil + garlic + salt + pepper + paprika, leave it for about 3 hours or more
- Pre heat oven 150C
- Use a small strainer to strain the olive oil while pour it inside the bowl of bread ( as we are not going to mix the garlic together with the bread, you can use the garlic for the parmesan cheese)
- Stir it well and add the oregano herbs + parmesan cheese inside ( make sure they all blend together)
- Spread the well-blended-breads into the pan and now ready to bake
- First bake it for 15 mins…stir it and then bake another 15 mins or more or until golden brown and of course crispy
2. Parmesan Chicken
- garlic (leftover from making the homemade garlic croutons)
- 2 boneless skinless chicken breast (served for 3 or 4 persons)
- olive oil
- marinara sauce (spaghetti sauces)
- chesseeess ( shredded mozzarella, grated parmesan, grated cheddar)
- homemade garlic croutons
- dried herbs (oregano, parsley, basil)
- Pan fried the boneless chicken breast with olive oil (half cooked)
- Preheat the oven to 177C
- Prepare deep square baking pan, pour and spread the olive oil and garlic inside
- Lay the half cooked chicken inside (including the chicken juices from the pan) + mixed herbs
- pour the marina sauce (until it all cover the chicken)
- spread the garlic croutons on the top of the sauce + sprinkle some of the mixed cheese
- (again) spread the garlic croutons again until it cover all the top of the pan + sprinkle the mixed cheese as per your request
- ready to bakeeeee…. bake it for 35 mins or more
