Myday : My lil corner

Haha….seems like my friend has been so tired waiting for my lil cozy room’s pictures in my new rental HDB. I have taken these pictures quite times ago but don’t have time to edit and upload them hahaha (Am I that busy?)

So here’s my promise…

room05

haha…can you just ignore the left part please (I know quite messy haha.. that’s my side haha..the other one is my roommate’s) and I just to lazy to edit it :P

And finally we just got a table from our rental agent’s (after being stalked by me hahah…), so we can put our lappies there and we place it in front of our bed so we play it directly from our bed ~see how lazy we are :P

room02

-living room, dining room and kitchen (place where I do my lil experiments – so just call it my lil laboratorium :D) -

Living room – no one use it unless on weekend or dinner time for watching tv

Dining room – It is super duper seldom to see us dining on that table (because we like to eat them whether on the sofa (eating + watching tv) or dine in our own room (eating + browsing). By the way, have you spotted the door with Doraemon’s curtain? that’s our room… Bought this curtain with my ex-roommates (we share it together and when we moved out, I decided to choose this rather than the magic mop :D).

room03

- Ladies-

Ladies – Dunno why the toilet paper roller is next to the shower (crazy architect :P), so in order to save money (we are talking about serious bad financial year LOL) I choose to DIY myself. Look at the cute hanger for the tissue, isn’t it cute?(hahaha) all you need is only small hanger, ribbon to hang the roll and lil accessories to make it cute haha (I took this lil fish from my tofu plush haha..save money save money); pinky pinky duck which is inherit by the owner and a hanger for the hand-cloth - seems like it is very plain and boring, so I just put my bear up there :)

room04 - my messy cozy lil corner -

haha…here’s my place,my zone, my corner, my box, my whatever-u-want-to-name-it hehe…

Doraemon here and doraemon there…I love Doraemon (although it’s color is not yellow, need to complain to Fujiko F Fujio ;P) I failed to complete the twelve chinese horoscope’s doraemon from McDonald (poor me). I hang them on my window beside my bed along with my dora’s photo frame (got it on last X’mas). Put my most important people’s picture inside (mom and dad) and I also put my family pics and my super duper cute nephew pictures on my notice board…so I can see them everyday and everytime (feel like home although I’m far away from them T^T)

I love plush (something that I can cuddle while sleeping and have lots of them at my hometown). I bought some of them  here (cause they are too cute and cannot “tahan” so I bought them) and some of them I got them as a gift.

Let’s say that little tiger from xiao mei, she bought me this when I felt blur and down to cheer me up huhuh…she is so adorable… love u hehe, big tiger and lil pooh got them as my bday’s gift’08, German steiff bear from my best buddy, and much more hehe and mostly all the color are yellow – tat’s my fav color and they know it hehe…). One of them that I bought few months back is that yellow mushroom (“ mogu-head” - I called it – got this name from my Sydney’s fren haha..miss u beib).

fyen[8]Lastly my pinky lappie which has been accompanied me for almost two years…(should I betray it and change to macbook now hahah :P)

Myday : Bodycombat on Friday

Yesterday I went to bodycombat class and it was awesome….I love it :) One hour body combat is just so nice (although I felt exhausted and hungry after that- can it make it fatter? eat lots after work out hahaha…)
Anyway, bodycombat is the empowering cardio workout where you are totally unleashed. It’s inspired by martial arts and draws from a wide array of disciplines such as karate,boxing, taekwondo, tai chi and muay thai. It is an one hour class supported by crazy driving powerful music plus instructors so they just boost your stamina to strike, punch, kick and kata your way through calories to superior cardio fitness.
After some browsing, I found out that bodycombat give us quite a lot of benefits which are:
  • Improves heart and lung function and reduces the risk of heart disease
  • Tones and shapes key muscle groups
  • Burns calories for a leaner body
  • Improves co-ordination and agility
  • Improves bone density
  • Improves posture and core strength and stability
  • Builds self-confidence
Attending my first class, make me a little bit confuse and afraid that I can’t catch up with them, but it is not real damn hard to follow them because the moves are simple so you don’t need to be especially well coordinated :) so just give it a go hahaa…
I used to attend bodypump class as well, they use barbell and I don’t have enough power to leave the barbell whenever the instructor ask us to >.< Comparing to these two classes. I will choose bodycombat as my fav cause all you need is jump, kick, punch and it’s just like dance class (I love dancing :D)
fyen[8] The effects of this bodycombat are make my body hurt (maybe I’m still new) and it makes me addictive (looking forward on their next class ).

Chinese Festival : Zongzi (粽子)

Another year has passed and here we are again, it’s Zong Zi( 粽子) time. Zongzi Zong zi is made of glutinous rice stuffed with different fillings and wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves, then you need to boil it for hours. Usually zong zi is traditionally eaten during the Dragon Boat Festival (Duan Wu).
Actually zong zi is one of many traditional Chinese foods that are intended to honor either the Gods or divine persons in history. This meant to honor Qu Yuan (340-278 BC), a famous Chinese poet from the kingdom of Chu who lived during the Warring States period.
Qu Yuan
Qu Yuan was a famous poet who was also concerned about the fate of his government. Unfortunately his stature aroused the jealousy of the king, who banished him to a remote area. The poet despaired of the government and its policies. When the state's capital was captured by enemies, he committed suicide by drowning himself in the Miluo River (on May 5th according to the Chinese lunar calendar). The Chinese people felt this loss deeply, as he was a much beloved poet. Local folk searched for him in the river, meanwhile dropping dumplings of glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves into the river in order to keep the fishes from attacking Qu Yuan's body.
Qu Yuan02Since that time, it has been customary on this day to enjoy Zong Zi dumplings as a memorial to the patriotic poet.
Making zong zi need some hand skill as well, because if you didn’t tie it well, the filling will drop out while you boil them. Besides that, patience is a must as well haha…because you need to boil them for at least 5 hours (that’s what we do at home). I always love to see how my mom wrap them one by one…she have that skill and she did it very well and very fast. I tried it before but failed >.<
Months before this festival, mom always buy duck eggs and soak them in damp salted charcoal to make them become salted duck egg (mom only use the egg yolk).
Mom’s zong zi recipes and wrap skill are passed down through families. That’s why the most delicious zong zi for our family are always zong zi from my grandma and my mom. (Really going to miss my grandma’s zong zi. We don’t have any chance to taste her zong zi anymore – my grandma just passed away last month T^T)
For us, glutinous rice must be lightly precooked by stir frying them with dark and light sauce first to make it tastier and mouth-watery looked.
The filling used in mom’s zong zi :
- mung beans, chinese barbeque pork, chinese sausage, salted duck eggs,dried shrimp, chinese black mushrooms and chili-padi.
Being far away from home, luckily it is very convenient to buy zong zi nowadays. However homemade zong zi by mom is the best (home sweet home). Anyway I got two zong zi from my boss’s wife and she is Chinese Indonesia and her zong zi’s taste is quite similar as my hometown’s taste. She gave all of us two zong zi for each person (she is a very good cook and kind, because she love to share her foods with us haha…btw thanks a lot:), one is traditional one (like mom’s zong zi) and the other one is nyonya zong zi (haven’t taste this one, going to eat it on 16 this Wed :P~ to merries zong zi’s festival hehehe)

Going to post the nyonya fyen[8]‘s dumpling before I ate that hehe:P

Yoann Gourcuff : The Next Big Thing from France

World cup 2010 is a hot topic today…Everyone ask me if I do watch these matches or not…and I will say “no”, “not really” because I don’t know them and out of so-called “football” things ages ago. And I just say that there’s no main reason why should I watch these matches, but I’m wrong…I make a mistake hahaha…until my friend told and introduce me some of cute and handsome footballer…And I think it would be nice to share it with everyone here….hahaha…

This cute little boy (haha…since I’m older than him), known from my friend and he is new in this World Cup 2010…he is cute right? I think he is a lil bit like Ricky Martin. Well, maybe he will be one of my aim to watch World cup this year:P

* Name: Yoan Gouffran
* Position: Forward
* Date of birth (age): 25/05/1986
* Country: France
* Club: Bordeaux ( France FRA )
* Height: 175cm
* Weight: 70kg
* UEFA competition debut:
* Club: UEFA Champions League (Group stage)
16/09/08: Chelsea 4 – 0 Bordeaux
* National team: European Under-19 Championship (First qualifying round)
28/09/04: France 2 – 1 Armenia

France has a new general and his name is Yoann Gourcuff. He may provide an answer to the old question of who will succeed Zinedine Zidane as the world’s best playmaker. Gourcuff, who exploded at Bordeaux last season after a disappointing spell with AC Milan, has it all. Like Zidane, he has that functional flair, lust for labor and ability to redirect entire soccer games with difficult and simple passes alike, seldom overstepping his boundaries. While he has yet to play his 17th game for France, he is unquestionably its conductor, leading his choir in beautiful hymns of soccer.

Scouting thumbnail: Very creative, technical playmaker who excels playing in the hole. Outrageous array of tricks and dribble moves and artistic vision.

Recipes : Banana Oat Pancake

Hm…lemme introduce my recipe, let’s call it “healthy banana oat pancake” or should I add muesli inside that name…OMG…it will be super duper long name then :P
Just skip it and let’s jump to the main topic. Well, I call this a super healthy pancake hahaha….because I use no flour and no sugar at all (It’s low fat :D ). It is very good for digestion as well ( my roommate told me this :P) as you can find banana, oat, muesli, honey,  milk powder (I use Anlene ) and wheat grass.
Why banana? because it tastes good and good for health
Why muesli? because inside contains mixture of mainly rolled oats and/or cornflakes together with various pieces of dried fruit, nuts, and seeds or it commonly contains other rolled cereal grains such as wheat or rye flakes as well. (read more on …)
Why honey? because honey contains B vitamins, calcium, iron, zinc, potassium and phosphorous and has the ability to act as a potent killer of bacteria.  Honey is an antioxidant, anti-bacterial, antimicrobial, calms nerves and has antidiarrhea actions.
Why oat? because high in carbohydrates which helps maintain energy levels for the day ahead and it may maintain healthy blood sugar levels as well
Why barley wheat grass? because I still have it on my cabinet and use it ( cost a lot…so don’t waste it LOL)…no…the main reason is it extremely beneficial for our health. Amazing Grass offers one of the most potent sources of dark green leafy vegetables in a convenient way that aligns with today’s busy lifestyles.
Why milk powder? because it’s going to expire soon…so use it before too late >.<
Honestly, I made this pancake accidentally. I just use whatever ingredients in my cabinet…and just don’t want to waste them..so wulllaa…here come the “fyen’s version pancake”. And I absolutely love the outcome hahaha…as it is easy to make, no cooking skills required, tasty and of course healthy ( although I still love to burn them >.<)
pancake
How to make it
1. If you are using that organic oats (1 cup), remember to mix it with hot water first to make it soft
pancake03
2. Peel the bananas and smash them all (3 or 4 of them depends) – when you do it..just remember the one that you hate the most >.< so it will blend smoothly
pancake04
3. Did I forget to mention eggs hahaha…ok after that mix the bananas with 2 eggs, half tea spoon of wheat grass, 2 teaspoons of honey mix , 2 spoons of milk powder and mix well…
pancake02
4. After that put the rest ingredients on it ( 2 cups of muesli + 3 cups of oats + 1 cup of organic oats)
pancake05
5. Heat the pan using the olive oil and ready for cooking now
pancake07
6. And ready for serving….serve best while it hot for breakfast or tea time hehe
