Recipe: Indonesia Tahu Goreng (Fried Beancurd) with peanuts sauce

Love love tofuu…I always either order tahu goreng or gado-gado if I happen to eat in Indonesia’s restaurant. Imagine, I never order ayam penyet every time I went to Ayam Penyet Ria hahahaha…weird rite?:Ptahugoreng
Anyway I tried to cook my own tahu goreng once and I need lots lots of oil to fry it and the whole kitchen just superb oily but worth it after ate the tahu goreng…delicious oishhiii~ne
need
  • 1 box of silken tofu (any type will do)
  • 3 eggs (beaten)
  • bit salt and pepper
Peanuts sauce:
  • 750gr Peanuts
  • 500ml coconut milk
  • 1/4 gloves garlic
  • 5 shallots
  • Chillies (complimentary)
  • lil bit lime juice + 1 tbs sugar + pinch of salt
  • Kecap manis (Indonesia black soya sauce) is a MUST :D
Garnish: cucumber, bean sprouts
stepbystep[3]
  1. Beat the eggs ( I try to separate the yolk and white eggs and beat the eggs white into peaks first before mix with the yolks and I found it makes the mixing become thicker and more fluffy)
  2. Mix the eggs with silken tofu
  3. Heat the oil (lots of oil, read: deep fry) and put a ring( any kind of round mould / tin) to hold the shape
  4. Pour the mixing into the ring/mould and keep deep fry it till golden brown :D
  5. Set aside and put try to diminish the oil by using paper towel
  6. For the sauce : Blend the garlic, shallots, chillies with 200 ml coconut milk in food processor till smooth
  7. Stir the blended mixture with the remaining ingredients (except peanuts) in a pan
  8. Add the peanuts on the half way of boiling and keep stirring until it cook (always remember to taste it, and be free to add any seasoning to add more flavour on it according to our preferences :P)
  9. Garnish: julienne the cucumber and boil the bean sprouts
Yummy yet crispy Indonesia tahu goreng ready to serve…itadakimasu~
