Fashion Alert : Grimoire Japan 2nd anniversary ~ Dolly Kei Party

This is the first time I write about Japan fashion and hope you guys enjoy it ♥

Celebrating their 2nd anniversary, Dolly-kei boutique – Grimorie Tokyo – held a party at Cafe x Lounge Microcosmos. Everyone dressed as coiffed dollies (girls) and guys come out in droves to celebrate it. They way they celebrate was quite unique cause they celebrated it by watching World Cup live accompanied by sweet tooth cakes, muffins and cookies. Other than that, magic show by Masaki Yamamoto and pole dancer Tokyo Dolores were also part of the party.

I don’t think we can call this an inspiration fashion, cause we can’t wear it here (read: Singapore). I mean yes you can… and of course you will sweating (unless you are in air-con room), anyway cosplay will be held in Singapore soon ~I read it from newspaper…will blog it later :)

Chinese Festival : Zongzi (粽子)

Another year has passed and here we are again, it’s Zong Zi( 粽子) time. Zongzi Zong zi is made of glutinous rice stuffed with different fillings and wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves, then you need to boil it for hours. Usually zong zi is traditionally eaten during the Dragon Boat Festival (Duan Wu).
Actually zong zi is one of many traditional Chinese foods that are intended to honor either the Gods or divine persons in history. This meant to honor Qu Yuan (340-278 BC), a famous Chinese poet from the kingdom of Chu who lived during the Warring States period.
Qu Yuan
Qu Yuan was a famous poet who was also concerned about the fate of his government. Unfortunately his stature aroused the jealousy of the king, who banished him to a remote area. The poet despaired of the government and its policies. When the state's capital was captured by enemies, he committed suicide by drowning himself in the Miluo River (on May 5th according to the Chinese lunar calendar). The Chinese people felt this loss deeply, as he was a much beloved poet. Local folk searched for him in the river, meanwhile dropping dumplings of glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves into the river in order to keep the fishes from attacking Qu Yuan's body.
Qu Yuan02Since that time, it has been customary on this day to enjoy Zong Zi dumplings as a memorial to the patriotic poet.
Making zong zi need some hand skill as well, because if you didn’t tie it well, the filling will drop out while you boil them. Besides that, patience is a must as well haha…because you need to boil them for at least 5 hours (that’s what we do at home). I always love to see how my mom wrap them one by one…she have that skill and she did it very well and very fast. I tried it before but failed >.<
Months before this festival, mom always buy duck eggs and soak them in damp salted charcoal to make them become salted duck egg (mom only use the egg yolk).
Mom’s zong zi recipes and wrap skill are passed down through families. That’s why the most delicious zong zi for our family are always zong zi from my grandma and my mom. (Really going to miss my grandma’s zong zi. We don’t have any chance to taste her zong zi anymore – my grandma just passed away last month T^T)
For us, glutinous rice must be lightly precooked by stir frying them with dark and light sauce first to make it tastier and mouth-watery looked.
The filling used in mom’s zong zi :
- mung beans, chinese barbeque pork, chinese sausage, salted duck eggs,dried shrimp, chinese black mushrooms and chili-padi.
Being far away from home, luckily it is very convenient to buy zong zi nowadays. However homemade zong zi by mom is the best (home sweet home). Anyway I got two zong zi from my boss’s wife and she is Chinese Indonesia and her zong zi’s taste is quite similar as my hometown’s taste. She gave all of us two zong zi for each person (she is a very good cook and kind, because she love to share her foods with us haha…btw thanks a lot:), one is traditional one (like mom’s zong zi) and the other one is nyonya zong zi (haven’t taste this one, going to eat it on 16 this Wed :P~ to merries zong zi’s festival hehehe)

Going to post the nyonya fyen[8]‘s dumpling before I ate that hehe:P

Yoann Gourcuff : The Next Big Thing from France

World cup 2010 is a hot topic today…Everyone ask me if I do watch these matches or not…and I will say “no”, “not really” because I don’t know them and out of so-called “football” things ages ago. And I just say that there’s no main reason why should I watch these matches, but I’m wrong…I make a mistake hahaha…until my friend told and introduce me some of cute and handsome footballer…And I think it would be nice to share it with everyone here….hahaha…

This cute little boy (haha…since I’m older than him), known from my friend and he is new in this World Cup 2010…he is cute right? I think he is a lil bit like Ricky Martin. Well, maybe he will be one of my aim to watch World cup this year:P

* Name: Yoan Gouffran
* Position: Forward
* Date of birth (age): 25/05/1986
* Country: France
* Club: Bordeaux ( France FRA )
* Height: 175cm
* Weight: 70kg
* UEFA competition debut:
* Club: UEFA Champions League (Group stage)
16/09/08: Chelsea 4 – 0 Bordeaux
* National team: European Under-19 Championship (First qualifying round)
28/09/04: France 2 – 1 Armenia

France has a new general and his name is Yoann Gourcuff. He may provide an answer to the old question of who will succeed Zinedine Zidane as the world’s best playmaker. Gourcuff, who exploded at Bordeaux last season after a disappointing spell with AC Milan, has it all. Like Zidane, he has that functional flair, lust for labor and ability to redirect entire soccer games with difficult and simple passes alike, seldom overstepping his boundaries. While he has yet to play his 17th game for France, he is unquestionably its conductor, leading his choir in beautiful hymns of soccer.

Scouting thumbnail: Very creative, technical playmaker who excels playing in the hole. Outrageous array of tricks and dribble moves and artistic vision.

Great Singapore Sale 2010

We all know that Great Singapore Sale (GSS) 2010 is back again….It is only eight weeks start from 28 May to 25 July 2010. And the good thing is the discount is up to 70%, for all shopaholic, Singapore is just like an instant heaven.

Besides that, you can enjoy the great savings at Singapore’s attraction too…(when mommy go shopping, daddy can bring children to Singapore’s attraction for example got 20% off admission fees to MINT Museum of Toys, Science Centre Singapore, Sentosa 4D magix, etc…- all the advantages can easily be found in the website). Simply download it from www.singapore-attractions.com

Whenever you shop in Singapore, ask the assistance about the tourist’s privileges. Some of them will give you 5% temporary one-day discount card for tourist for example OG, and don’t forget to redeem your GST whenever you spent more than SGD100( can claim up to 5%). All you need to do is tell the cashier that you want to redeem GST and I’m sure they will assist you on this :)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Went to Orchard Ion yesterday hoping to get something however we went back home with nothing haha… The sales weren’t what we have expected (or we were in the wrong shopping mall?- we must go to Far East Plaza to get the cheap cheap stuffs :P). Anyway what I love all of the stuffs are new arrivals and they are not in sale >.<. One things that I noticed that M)phosis in Orchard Ion is not on sale while on other shopping mall such as Bugis junction and Plaza Singapore, they are doing a massive 50% off. ( I will go hunting again LOL…)

Those who have credit cards especially Master card will enjoy and additional storewide discount and it just make people more temptation in buying something that they don’t need them just in order to reach the minimum spend to get the so-called “more" discounts things. ( Lets count me in as well T^T)

The very common things that you will find is the line in branded stores such as LV, Gucci, Prada etc…

Below is one of the picture that I got it from another blogger. It happened in GSS 2007 @ Orchard Paragon. And as what I read on his blog said that most of them who were in the line were working ladies who took half day off just because that Gucci were having 30% off for that day only. So I guess for this year, it will happen again. (Although said that 2009 was a tough financial year, but still I could find the same scene at the same spot – unluckily I didn’t take a picture of it)

Find more on the promotion on http://www.greatsingaporesale.com.sg/

Happy shopping :)

Sharing : Someday I may find my Prince Charming, but my Daddy will always be my King

Years ago, while we were celebrating Mother’s day,my daddy used to ask us,” why there’s no Father’s day? Why everyone only celebrating Mother’s day?Don’t they know that Father hold an important role as well in a family?” ~ seems like Dad felt jealous at that time haha…
 pic 161
Well…I cannot explain much at that time though I even didn’t know “Father’s day” do exist, as we didn’t celebrate any Father’s day in Indonesia. Until I went to Sydney, and knew that about Father’s day stuff._CSC0639
Fathers are the biggest source of strength for a child. As for myself or the innocent eyes of a child perceive father as the all-powerful, most knowledge, truly affectionate and the most important person in the family. For daughters, fathers are the first men they adore and fall in love with( and yes I am). While for sons their fathers are the strongest person they know and someone they aspire to emulate. Even for the grownups fathers are someone whom they look up to for the most experienced and honest advice that is always in the best of our interest.Because we know that Daddy will always think the best for us. For this great figure in our life that we know as father - it becomes our utmost duty to pay our humblest tribute on the occasion of Father's Day.
As we know that Mother’s day come first but Father’s day wasn’t too far behind. Mostly everyone in every part of world (especially in United States, Canada and most countries in Asia) will celebrate Mother’s day on the second Sunday in May, while Father’s day is on the third Sunday in June, which it will fall on June 20 this year.
Who came up with the idea of Father's Day?
Sonora Louise Smart Dodd who honored and revered her father very much as their mother died during childbirth. While listening to a Mother’s day sermon in 1909, she determined there should also be a day to honor fathers. Gaining local support made her dream become a reality one year later within her own city of Spokane, Washington. On 1978, Father’s day became a permanent national observance and being celebrate widely.
Why June?? Simple, because her father’s birthday was on 19 June.
What can we do on Father’s day
We must make all efforts to celebrate Father's Day with our Dad. Children staying away from father must especially strive to spend the day with father and show gratitude for all their support and love. We must pamper father by spending the day in a manner he likes most. It could be going out for a picnic or indulging him with a gourmet meal. The idea is to show our affection and tell Daddy how much he is loved and appreciated not just on Father's Day but every single day of our lives.
1. DIY “Best Dad” Trophy

2. Treat your dad a good dinner in restaurant or maybe cook by yourself.
~ Restaurant promotion as some of them will offer free beer for all fathers(Re!Fill), or even free meals for fathers at Bedrock Bar & Grill

3. Gifts : desk accessories or photo figures so Dad can see them everyday ;every day fashion such as tie, customized tee-shirt, bag, wallet, shoes,watch, etc.. ; write poems, messages, or letters…
4. Cakes or flower (esp red roses for Father’s day)
5. Play “Daddy the King”
Spoil your dad for one whole day…serve him like a king. For more fun, rent a King suit or crown, let him wear it for a day and absolutely will be an unforgettable and looked-forward events.
6. Say thanks as Dad have take care all our needs and interests, someone who stop us from diverting to a wrong path and guide us on a road of success and virtue, someone who always been there to solve our innumerous from small to big problems and someone who give us a warm home calls family.
7. Ask apologies for our rude and insensitive behavior. We often take the love and affection of our parents for granted and treat them with outright contempt. We need to apologize. We must feel great to have the presence of loving father in our lives and do not disrespect the blessing of God on us. On Father's Day we must says “Sorry” to our Dad and seek their forgiveness for our wrong behavior.
8. The most important is “make your papa proud and happy”

~ God, bless all the fathers in the world. Guide them to be good role models and loving to all their children. Give them grace and patience to handle situations in a loving way ~
父亲节快乐!
